Karate storytime — This one-time program, led by second-degree black belt karate instructor Sarah-Beth Gosselin, will be offered Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. for ages 3-6. Gosselin will read karate stories, teach a mini karate lesson and do a fun craft with children. Stop by the children's room or call 978-346-9441 to register.
"Peace Rocks!" — Children can help commemorate Peace Day (Sept. 21) on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by painting an inspirational rock to add to the library's Kindness Rocks garden. All materials will be supplied.
Therapy dogs — The Tri-Town Public Libraries Teen Advisory Group invites students in grades 7-12 from West Newbury, Groveland and Merrimac to visit with therapy dogs Finn and Loki at the Pentucket Regional High School library on Tuesday from 2:20 to 3 p.m.
This is the group's first monthly gathering and is open to anyone interested in working with the young adult librarians to gain community service hours by improving teen programming, creating and running programs for younger children, helping to create new and interesting displays, and learning how to take advantage of all the free digital and online resources at the three public libraries in the district.
The group hopes to host more fun events and activities while giving back to surrounding communities by participating in various outside service projects.
For more information about the group, contact Tracy Shaw at Merrimac Public Library, Meghan McCabe at Langley-Adams Library in Groveland or Kristen Young at GAR Memorial Library in West Newbury.
