WEST NEWBURY— Weather permitting, the Board of Health has authorized mosquito spraying around the areas of the Dr. John C. Page Elementary School and the Pentucket Regional Middle and High School campus tomorrow evening.
Spraying will be conducted by the Northeast Massachusetts Mosquito Control & Wetlands Management District. The product used is called Anvil and will be applied by an ultra-low volume sprayer at 0.42 ounces per acre, reported Health Agent Paul Sevigny.
The decision to spray followed the discovery by the state of West Nile virus in mosquitoes collected in Riverbend Conservation Area. On Tuesday, the area between Coffin Street, Main Street and Way to the River Road was sprayed in the evening hours.
