NEWBURYPORT – Newburyport Bank has donated almost $10,000 to a variety of cultural and nonprofit institutions in the region.
The bank donated $5,000 to the American Independence Museum in sponsorship of its 29th annual American Independence Festival. The event will take place Saturday at the Ladd-Gilman House and Folsom Tavern in Exeter, New Hampshire.
In a press release, Lloyd L. Hamm Jr., president and CEO of the bank, said, “History doesn’t repeat itself at the American Independence Museum – it builds on itself. Based on the historic foundation of our country’s independence, the museum refreshes and reanimates the importance of our freedoms and makes them as relevant today as they were in 1776. We fully support both their civic efforts and energetic American spirit.”
The American Independence Museum’s annual festival includes Colonial re-enactments, a working artisans village and the display of an original copy of a Dunlap Broadside printing of the Declaration of Independence, one of just 26 known to still exist.
Among other recent donations:
Newburyport Bank donated $999 to the North Shore Chamber of Commerce to benefit its annual summer golf outing July 15 at Ipswich County Club; $500 to Newburyport Parks Conservancy in support of its Americana Rhythm & Roots Festival, which took place Saturday on the Newburyport waterfront; $1,200 to the Portsmouth Rotary Club in support of its annual golf tournament June 28 at Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and $2,000 to the Seacoast Science Center of Rye, New Hampshire, in support of its “Atlantic Grill Music by the Sea” series, and the bank’s two-star corporate membership. The center’s concert series runs July 11, 18, 25 and Aug. 1.
