NEWBURYPORT – The Newburyport High School Class of 1953 held its 66th class reunion at the Elwells’ 32-acre Maple Crest Farm in West Newbury on July 27.

It was the perfect setting under a newly built pavilion overlooking the picturesque Artichoke Reservoir. The farm setting provided a relaxing atmosphere for people to mingle and share stories and reminisce about the good old days.

A picnic lunch was enjoyed by class members and guests highlighted by hosts John and Carol Elwells’ serving of freshly picked blueberries for a blueberry shortcake dessert.

Carl Beal, class president, relayed messages from classmates who were unable to attend the event. He also updated the class on an ongoing project slated for the Newburyport High School Library.

Twenty class members and guests attended the event including Carl and Ginny Beal, with granddaughter Kristen Beal, Mary (Ross) and Dave Wood, Russell and Marsha Peirce, Muriel (Walters) Cummings, Ben and Rita Plouff, Joanne (Girard) and Rick Baker, Doris (Dickey) Hettler, Dr. Edward Roaf and wife Peggy, Norma (Coffin) Taylor, Dan and Rhoda Kneeland, and guests Connie Sheridan and son Bob.
