NEWBURYPORT – Former three-term state Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives of Newburyport joined the law firm of Finneran & Nicholson, P.C., on Aug. 1.
O’Connor Ives was elected to the Massachusetts Senate in 2012, representing the 1st Essex District until deciding not to seek re-election in 2018.
In a press release about joining the Newburyport law firm as a senior associate, O’Connor Ives said, “I was very deliberate about my next endeavor and I’m confident that in choosing to join Finneran & Nicholson, I’ll be working with a dedicated group of professionals. Susan R. Finneran and Thomas G. Nicholson, the principals of the Green Street firm, said they were excited about O’Connor Ives joining the practice.

Before she was elected to theSenate, O’Connor Ives served as a councilor at-large on the Newburyport City Council for five years.
O’Connor Ives is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association who graduated from Pace Law School in 2007, earning her juris doctorate and certificate in environmental law.
