NEWTON, N.H. — A New Hampshire county attorney said a Newton woman who fatally shot herself after injuring three other people at a house in Mason had been married to the homeowner.

Sixty-year-old Jennifer Gaines was found dead late Monday at a home on Old Ashby Road. Hillsborough County Attorney Dennis Hogan said she shot a man, a woman and a girl before shooting herself. An autopsy determined Gaines died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. She died from her injuries at the Old Ashby Road home.

The girl has been released from the hospital; the man and woman were still being treated.

New Hampshire officials have not identified other victims.

Hogan said Gaines used to live in the house and that she and the owner at some point were married and still might be. It wasn't immediately clear if the injured man was the homeowner.

According to a press release from the New Hampshire State Police, officers from the Mason, New Ipswich and Temple/Greenville departments responded to a 911 domestic violence call for shots fired at 317 Old Asby Road at 10:06 p.m. on Monday. Local emergency medical responders administered medical treatment at the scene.

The case is still under investigation by the Troop B of the State Police, the Major Crime Unit and the Mason Police Department.
