Democrats will meet in Salisbury

SALISBURY — The Salisbury Democratic Town Committee will meet Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. in the police station meeting room.

Speakers will be Lisa Peterson, a candidate for the 6th Congressional District seat, and Elizabeth Kilcoyne from the Newburyport committee of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus.

Blood pressure clinic scheduled

GEORGETOWN — The Council on Aging offers a blood pressure clinic Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Georgetown Senior Community Center.

Public health nurse Pam Lara will take blood pressure, provide heart assessments.

Bike sale will benefit rail trail

SEABROOK — Friends of the Seabrook Rail Trail and Recycled Sports present the 11th annual Labor Day Bike Sale on Monday, Sept. 2, at 8 a.m. at the Seabrook Community Center, 311 Lafayette Road.

Free admission for the public. Registration for vendors is from 7 to 8 a.m. The vendor fee is $30 to $50.

The sale offers bicycles of all types, including mountain bikes, road bikes, beach cruisers and children’s bikes along with parts, accessories and memorabilia.

Book Club to gather

BYFIELD – The Newbury Library Book Club meets the first Thursday of the month, including Sept. 5, from 6 to 7 p.m.

The club, which gathers at the library at 0 Lunt St., will discuss “The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander Newfoundland” by Jim DeFede. A copy of the book is available at the circulation desk or visit mvlc.overdriven.com to get a copy as an eBook or eAudiobook.

Bean cook-off in Salisbury

SALISBURY — A cookout and baked bean cook-off will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, at noon at the Salisbury Hilton Senior Center, 43 Lafayette Road.

People can enter their favorite bean recipe or just taste and vote for their favorite entry. There also will be hamburgers, hotdogs, dessert and chances to win gift cards. Tickets are $6 and available at the senior center.

Town photo now for sale

WEST NEWBURY — Copies of the town photo taken during Bicentennial Week in July are now available for purchase.

A 9-inch-by-20-inch print costs $60; or $100 for a 14-inch-by-32-inch print. Contact Chiller Photography at chillphoto2000@yahoo.com or stop by the shop in the town square.

The bicentennial committee arranged for RFR Framing, located next door to Chiller Photography at 290 Main St, to provide a discount on framing. The committee plans to present a framed photo to the town at an upcoming Board of Selectmen meeting.

Reiki, meditation at Groveland COA

GROVELAND — Reiki and meditation is offered on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the Council on Aging, 183 Main St.

The class is led by Sue Cullen. Cost is $5. Council on Aging programs are not limited to Groveland residents.

SALISBURY — The Civil War Roundtable of the Merrimack meets Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Senior Center, 42 Lafayette Road.
