Holiday market open weekends

NEWBURYPORT – The North Shore Artisans Holiday Market will take place the next two weekends at the First Religious Society, 26 Pleasant St.

The hours are 5 to 9:30 p.m. on Fridays, Dec. 6 and 13, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 7 and 14.

Two floors of local fine crafts will be set up, creating a marketplace of original gifts for holiday giving. Free admission.

Lowell's hosts open house

AMESBURY – Lowell’s Boat Shop holds its 13th annual Holiday Open House and Art Show on Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8 with its Preview Party bash Friday, Dec. 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The party — for Lowell's members, exhibiting artists and their guests — features live jazz, an open beer and wine bar, hors d’oeuvres, and first dibs on artwork and silent auction items. Lowell's memberships can be purchased at the event.

The Holiday Open House and Art Show is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and offers the general public free admission to this National Historic Landmark and working museum. 

Festivities include live music by Derrick Feole and Dave Torrisi; a children’s workshop, where kids can learn to use hand tools and paint Christmas ornaments; visits from Santa (noon to 1 p.m.); a raffle for an oil painting by Ellen Doremus depicting Lowell’s Boat Shop from the river; and rum tastings with Rumson’s of Salem.

Discounts, treats in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN — Special treats and discounts will be offered by dozens of downtown shops, restaurants and organizations Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be three raffles — each with a basket of surprises. Raffle cards can be obtained at the Scala Center at 28 W. Main St.

There will be live music and free refreshments ending at 5 p.m. unless noted otherwise on the map of the downtown area. Santa Claus will be at the Scala Center from 10 a.m. to noon.

Holiday festivities on Upper Green

NEWBURY — The annual Christmas on the Green will be Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3:30 p.m. at the Upper Green on High Road.

The festivities will include entertainment, a visit from Santa, and refreshments provided by Newbury Elementary School and The Governor's Academy.

Holiday fair on Plum Island

NEWBURY — The 26th annual Plum Island Christmas Fair is set for Saturday, Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PITA Hall, 8 Plum Island Blvd.

Crafters and artists will offer handmade gifts, stocking stuffers and holiday decorations. There will be raffle prizes and lunch specials, including hot dogs, hamburgers and chowder. Christmas trees and wreaths will be for sale, with free delivery on Plum Island. Santa arrives at 2 p.m.

Proceeds help maintain the hall and support other island projects by Plum Island Taxpayers & Associates.

Church hosts fair, raffle

NEWBURYPORT —  An annual Christmas fair and basket raffle will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at Central Congregational Church, 14 Titcomb St., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fair features holiday shopping, music, lunch, a cookie walk, holiday wreaths, baked goods and candy, and a large supply of jewelry and accessories. Free admission.

The Souper Luncheon features homemade soups, including the renowned Central Church fish chowder. The raffle offers baskets with varying themes, including sports, fine art, tennis, chocolate, fairy furniture and movies, and gift certificates from downtown merchants.

Santa Pop-up Fair at Salvation Army

NEWBURYPORT – The Salvation Army at Water and Fair Streets is holding a Santa Pop-up Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. 

The free event will feature crafts and gifts for sale, a café and an opportunity to have family members and family pets post for photos with Santa, for $10 per photo. Proceeds benefit the Salvation Army. 

Friendly dogs are welcome at this event, sponsored by “Make No Bones” dog training.

Cookie Walk on Saturday

NEWBURYPORT —  Emma L. Andrews Library and Community Center holds its annual Cookie Walk on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at People's United Methodist Church, 64 Purchase St.

An assortment of home-baked cookies will be available for $5 a dozen. The tables will feature stained glass items, Christmas decorations, knitted and crochet items, handmade quilts, jewelry, free bike reflectors, neck warmers, fingerless gloves, and hot and cold rice packs.

All proceeds benefit the library's scholarship fund.

Craft fair in Rowley

ROWLEY — The 47th annual Holiday Crafts Fair is Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pine Grove School, 191 Main St.

More than 150 professional craftspeople from throughout New England will exhibit, demonstrate and sell their wares. Free admission.

The event is sponsored by the Pine Grove School PTA.  

Platts-Bradstreet hosts open house

ROWLEY – The Rowley Historical Society open house, with the theme "Holiday Harmonies," is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Platts-Bradstreet House, 233 Main St.

The event will feature refreshments, live music, free admission, free parking, musical masterworks explained, and tours of the historic house and barn. choose.

Green Fair att he Grange

WEST NEWBURY — The Laurel Grange Green Fair is Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 21 Garden St.

There will be fresh greens, a baked goods table, knitted items and Christmas decorations.

This fundraiser helps the Grange maintain its building and donate to The Pettengill House.
