NEWBURYPORT – Watercolors by Groveland artist Ann Jones will be featured in an exhibit at Anna Jaques Hospital from May 30 to June 27.
Jones has been painting for 20 years. Essentially self-taught, she has taken workshops with Keiko Tanabe, Frank Eber, Alvaro Castagnet and Don Andrews.
She is a member of the New England Watercolor Society, the Newburyport Art Association, president of the Greater Haverhill Arts Association, and NHPleinAir Artists.
Her paintings have been juried into numerous regional shows and received many awards, according to a press release. Her work also is in private collections locally and abroad.
She enjoys working en plein air whenever possible. Among her favorite locations for sketching and painting are the Merrimack Valley, the North Shore, Cape Ann and Plum Island.
Painting favorite places enables her to see them fresh and appreciate them anew. Jones said she likes to remember her travels in watercolor as well, and has painted in England, Nova Scotia, Southeast Asia and Egypt. Besides landscapes, her subjects include interiors, figures and still lifes.
The Anna Jaques Hospital Aid Association makes this exhibit possible as a fundraiser for the hospital.
