WEST NEWBURY -- Health Agent Paul Sevigny reports that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced on Friday that West Nile virus has been detected in a mosquito pool collected in Haverhill. Earlier this week, the state had announced that an elderly man from Manchester has contracted EEE.
At this time, the West Nile virus risk level for West Newbury is low with the risk level for EEE remaining at moderate, Sevigny said. Residents are reminded to be diligent in the use of personal protective measures. Any group, school or organization can put restrictions on outdoor activities as they see fit.
