To the editor:

I found the political cartoon shown in the Jan. 16 edition of The Daily News offensive.

Mike Smith's cartoon, titled "Meanwhile, Back in Iran," shows Iran's Ayatollah lecturing two Iranian soldiers on the difference between a kite, a cloud, a bird and a 737 aircraft.

Presumably, this is meant to be funny. I think it's a sick mind that trivializes the murder of those passengers on that Ukrainian airplane.

Let us not forget that two missiles were fired, that bulldozers were at the crash sight almost immediately to bury the evidence, that the person who filmed the missiles hitting the airplane has been arrested, and that protesters in Iran are being monitored by the ayatollahs for probable punishment.

Let us not help them bury their crime under the carpet by making light of it.
