To the editor:

I’ve known Christina Eckert for 13 years. We met in 2007 at her first Boxford school open house. I was quite involved with the PTO then and was always looking for good people to recruit to our board. As soon as I learned about her active involvement in her children’s former school, I didn’t hesitate to ask her to join. She not only joined, she became the new co-president and I never regretted my decision to recruit her. She embraced the role, co-leading and coordinating many successful PTO events and integrating seamlessly within the Boxford community.

Always thinking ahead, even though her boys were still in primary school, she co-founded the Masconomet Education Foundation once she realized there was no organization to raise funds at the middle/high school level. In her 9-year tenure with MEF, she was instrumental in raising money to upgrade the Masconomet wireless system and build the STEAM Labs.

Christina did not stop at doing only one job well, but multiple ones extremely well. Besides raising three wonderful boys and raising funds for MEF, Christina was also the director of Development for Community Giving Tree, writing grants and spearheading fundraisers that brought in record funds that allowed CGT to expand its mission in Northeastern Massachusetts to provide low income families with basic necessities, school supplies, and used clothing. Not one to take a break, during the summers, as the director of the Boxford Park Program she coordinated old-fashioned activities for hundreds of children and supervised local teenagers who now had summer jobs in a town with few hiring opportunities. Even with this busy schedule, she still found time to be an assistant baseball coach, co-chair for the annual Boys Scouts food drive and board member of the Boxford Council of Aging.

Christina has done so much for our tri-town community, making it a better place to live and raise our families and doing it with grace and an infectious can-do attitude. As your state rep, Christina can be trusted to get things done as can be attested by her impressive track record as successful fundraiser, coordinator and volunteer extraordinaire. I know Christina will work tirelessly for Boxford and the district to address her constituents’ concerns. I urge you to vote for Christina Eckert, she will not only bring a new perspective to this position but will do it with integrity.
