To the editor:

The Joppa Flats Running Club is very grateful to everyone involved in this year’s Newburyport/Maudslay Turkey Trot.

The Institution for Savings has provided generously to the Maudslay Turkey Trot race year after year.

The Riverwalk Brewery was again a gracious host for our Thanksgiving eve number and shirt pickup. Our number/shirt pickup Wednesday evening and Thursday morning for over 1,200 runners would not happen without the help of numerous volunteers.

The Pentucket boys cross-country team and the Kelleher Park Association provided a top-notch crew of volunteers. We must thank Rob Kovack and his staff at Maudslay State Park for all their support. And of course, thanks to all the runners.

JFRC donates 100% of race profits from all of our races to local charitable organizations; this has surpassed $100,000 over the past eight years.

This year, the runners also contributed over 200 pounds of canned and boxed food for the local food pantries.

The race fees and food donations will help support Our Neighbors’ Table, The Pettengill House, Newburyport’s Salvation Army, Newburyport Learning Enrichment Center/Kelleher Park, Maudslay State Park, and local needy veterans through Market Basket vouchers.

I look forward to seeing you at the 2020 Maudslay Turkey Trot.
