For 12 days in September, an eight-member team from Main Street Congregational United Church of Christ was privileged to travel to Haiti to build houses in partnership with Haitians displaced by the 2010 earthquake. Working with the Fuller Center for Housing, we assisted in the building of the second duplex — of an eventual 36 such structures — that will provide simple, safe shelter for 72 families. We were blessed by the prayers and support of our amazing congregation and several anonymous donations from the community.
We are also grateful for the generous donations provided by our local businesses. Thank you to Amesbury Industrial Supply, Port Paint and Paper, The Provident Bank, Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank. Our thanks also to Amesbury Sports Park, which will be providing space for us to share our story. We look forward to another trip soon — maybe you would like to participate?
