Strengths: Veteran leadership, reliable players.

Concerns: Experience at the back end of the order.

Coach’s outlook: “With considerable change in the league, like North Andover leaving, and the amount of turnover in a great number of teams in the league, we will see great competition match in and match out. The experience these players have had during the summer will go a long way to determine our success. Our goal is always a CAL title first and make the state tournament. I am pleased with our early practices and want to see the success in practice turn into victories on the course.”

Pentucket

Coach: Jayne Beaton (6th year).

Last year’s record: 16-2-1

Key returning athletes: Jeff Funk, sr., CJ Ingraham, sr., Krystal Knight, so.

Newcomers: Tom Pingree, sr., Chris Gilman, sr., Mike Lincoln, sr., Tom Funk, sr., and John Sirois, jr.

Strengths: Jeff, CJ and Krystal will be the backbone of the team this year.

Concerns: Inexperience.

Coach’s outlook: “Last year we were more ‘tournament tough.’ I think we need to develop that attribute this season. I’m looking forward to watching this group develop, both as individuals and as a team.”

First match: Sept. 4 against North Reading (Haverhill Country Club)

Amesbury

Coach: George Dodier (6th Season)

Last year’s record: 5-11

Strengths: Work ethic, leadership.

Concerns: Youth and inexperience in matches.

Coaches outlook: “This is the hardest working group in my tenure. Looking forward to starting the season and challenging every team in the CAL.”

Triton

Coach: Rich Dube (7th Season)

Strengths: Work ethic, experience, depth

Concerns: Consistency, youth.

Coach’s outlook: “The boys have worked hard all summer to prepare themselves for the season. We only lost one player from last year’s team, so we have match experience. We need to be consistent and play to our potential. If we can do that, we’ll have a successful year.”
