The four-time Daily News All-Star is only just now reaching upperclassmen status after emerging as the team’s star back as a seventh grader. ... Senior Lilly Egenberg is also expected to enjoy a strong season.

Twin sister Emily Rubio is also joining the program after emerging as a standout sprinter and jumper in track.

Odds and ends: Where Triton lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality, as the Vikings feature only 13 runners and yet still rank among the top small school programs in the state. The Vikings enter the season ranked No. 6 in the MSTCA’s Small School Preseason Top 20 poll after returning virtually everyone from last year’s undefeated Cape Ann League championship team. ... Junior Kyla Prussman joins the team after switching from soccer and is expected to compete for a spot in the top seven this fall.
