Odds and ends: Georgetown volleyball is now a standalone program after five years as a co-op with Triton and Pentucket. The Royals have hosted the program the last four years but are now on their own after Pentucket broke off to form its own team this fall. The Royals have great numbers, with 38 players coming out for this season. ... Freshman Grace Sorensen recently moved to Georgetown from Minnesota and may immediately become one of the area’s top players.

The Sachems had previously partnered with Triton and Georgetown as part of co-op programs, but the majority of this year’s inaugural team will be relatively new to the sport. As a result, nobody’s positions have been established yet. ... Head coach Lauren Bennett previously played Division 1 volleyball at UMass Lowell, where she was a three-year starter after initially walking on following a successful high school career at Wilmington High.
