BYFIELD — It wasn’t Triton’s night as Saugus led from wire to wire in a dominant 33-0 win in Byfield on Friday.
Saugus jumped out to a 6-0 first quarter lead after Jean Marvins escaped for an 18-yard touchdown run with 6:56 left in the quarter. Shortly afterwards, Christian Correa hit Javier Martinez for a 13-yard touchdown pass to send Saugus into halftime leading 12-0.
Coming out of the break, Correa connected with Martinez again, making it 18-0 at the end of the third, and then the Sachems put their foot on the gas pedal in the fourth. Correa scored on an 8-yard rushing touchdown on the first play of the fourth, following that with a two-point rush, and then with 5:15 to play Marvins got loose for a big 60-yard touchdown run to finish things up.
Triton (1-8) will have one more non-playoff game next weekend against an opponent to be determined before getting ready for Thanksgiving against Pentucket. The opponent, date and time will be finalized by Sunday evening.
